MEETING SANTORINI
Santorini, Thira, or otherwise, by its old name Strogguli is a Cycladic island in the southern Aegean Sea, south of Ios and west of Anafi. The capital is called Fira and is one of the most famous tourististic destinations in the world. It is no coincidence that the readers of Travel & Leisure magazine highlighted it as a leading European destination and on TripAdvisor it is ranked among the Top 10 best European islands. Among other things, it is known for its volcano, which is still characterized as active and because of the Minoan eruption of the so called Caldera (Caldera), the view is breathtaking and is one of the main attractions of the island.
The island appeals to all the tastes as there are many forms of entertainment, from quiet cafes and bars to shops with loud music and clubs. In Oias’s cafes you can enjoy the beautiful views and in the central square of Pyrgos’ you can rest under the large pine tree while drinking Greek coffee or trying “ipovrihio”, which means submarine (mastic-flavored sugar paste dipped in a glass of cold water). Likewise, you can try the local delicacies, including fava, caper, tomatoes, wine either at taverns or in elegant restaurants with great view, like in Ammoudi. In the morning you can climb to Ancient Thira and see the whole island, while in the evening if you are in Oia or Imerovigli you will be enchanted by the beautiful sunset with the sun sinking into the Aegean. Anyone who wants to go shopping in the cobbled streets of the island will find traditional souvenirs, blazing handmade jewelry and galleries with famous works of art. Ultimately, Santorini is not called the "black pearl of the Aegean" accidentally, as it is characterized by its unique beauty, interesting history and even if you consider that you have seen everything that you wanted on the island, there are always more things to see and visit like the volcano, spas and "Kameni" (meaning burned) islands Thirassia, Palea and Nea Kameni, which you can visit by boat.
