There are two different ways to move around the island if you do not have a car, scooter or atv. Public Local buses and Taxi.
There are connections routes for every village and on summer season there is a bus every 20-30 minutes with the last one at midnight.
The central bus station is in Fira next to the Taxi station.
The taxis are available all year but too hard to find on summer therefore we strongly recommend to book your transportation before you arrive in Santorini. You can try take a taxi if you go near the central square of Fira.

Tips
Bus service (KTEL Thiras):
connects the town of Fira with other villages. You can get your ticket from inside the bus. Prices vary according to destination: 1,60 € for shorter distances, 2,30 € for longer (Pyrgos), but there are also discount tickets. Apart from the planned route, the company organizes tours.

Cable Car:
The cable car climbs the island according to the path and within 3 minutes it reaches Fira, which is located at a height of 220 meters. It serves 1,200 people per hour and is made from Dopperlmayr ® according to Austrian regulations.

• April: 6:30, 6:40, 6:50 and from 07:00 to 21:00 every 20 minutes.
• May, September, October: 06:30, 6:40, 6:50 and from 07:00 to 22:00 every 20 minutes (last route from the top at 21:40).
• June-August: 6:30, 6:40, 6:50 and from 07:00 to 23:00 every 20 minutes (last route from the top at 22:40).
• November to March: 07: 30 to 10:30 & 14: 30-18: 00 every 30 minutes, from 10: 30 to 14:00 specific routes if the condition of the cable car allows it.

There is a station with silver-grey taxis at the central square of Fira. For reservations: Tel: 22860 22555, 22860 23951
Donkeys and mules are one of the attractions of the island and during the summer time they are used to carry on their backs tourists the steep stairs connecting Fira to the old port of Ormos and Oia with the Ammoudi harbour. You can climb on their backs at the hills of Thirasia, too.
