.Santorini Island.

The island of Santorini has an area of 76 square km and a coastline of 69 square km. The perimeter is about 36 nautical miles and is located 128 nautical miles away from Piraeus and 63 nautical miles away from Crete. The name Santorini, Santa and Irene (Santa Irene), is due to the Venetians and took after either from the name of the church in the valley of Thirasia or from the name of the early Christian basilica in Perissa, which is not preserved. Thira,Thirasia and Aspronisi form a marine bay, the Caldera, its depth is about 370 m. The settlements on the island are build on the edges of the inner walls of the caldera with a lot of cave houses in volcanic soil.

Santorini is a cluster of volcanic islands, has features that are enough to satisfy even the most demanding visitor: geological formations (Caldera Volcanoes), antiquities (the settlement of Akrotiri dating from prehistoric times and ancient Thira dating from the classical period), Byzantine monuments (the basilica of St. Irene in Perissa, the church of Panagia Episkopi in Mesa Gonia), medieval buildings (monasteries, churches). It also has endless beaches all black or bright red, colorful rocks and stones, paths, old spas, towns and villages with the typical Cycladic ecclesiastical and folk architecture. It has luxury and traditional hotels and restaurants and other entertainment venues. These characteristics have made Santorini not only famous as the number one tourist destination in Europe and second in the world, but also as the most romantic island in Greece. We invite you to visit this unique island group of Santorini, to experience the beauty and enjoy a wonderful experience, like so many thousands of visitors.
